A Glimpse Into the History of the Clock Tower

Constructed in 1906 to commemorate the visit of Sir Charles Montgomery Rivaz, then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, the Clock Tower reflects british architectural influence. It was built by Rai Bahadur Sunder Singh Lyallpuri, the founder of Ludhiana, with red bricks and white limestone accents, showcasing British architectural styles while incorporating elements of local design. The clock at the top was once one of the largest in the region and was visible from across the city.
