Hi, Lykkers! Paku Waterfall is a natural attraction within Gunung Mulu National Park in Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo.
Surrounded by tropical rainforest, the waterfall can be reached through the Paku Waterfall Trail, a self-guided route that takes visitors through peat swamp forest before reaching the banks of the Paku River.
The trail offers a quieter way to experience the natural surroundings of one of Sarawak’s best-known national parks.
A Rainforest Trail
The Paku Waterfall Trail takes around four to five hours and passes through peat swamp forest.
Unlike some of the more demanding activities in Gunung Mulu National Park, the Paku route is a self-guided walk, making it one of the park’s unguided trail options.
The journey provides an opportunity to experience Mulu’s rainforest environment while walking toward the waterfall.
Gunung Mulu National Park is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its limestone formations, extensive cave systems, rich biodiversity, and rainforest landscapes.
The Paku trail offers a different experience from the park’s famous caves and Pinnacles, focusing instead on the forest and river environment.

Peaceful Natural Surroundings
At the end of the trail, Paku Waterfall is located on the banks of the Paku River. The waterfall is relatively small, but its forest setting provides a peaceful place to take a break after the walk. Sarawak Tourism describes the area as suitable for a picnic lunch and a refreshing swim.
The surrounding rainforest is also part of Mulu’s wider natural environment, which supports a variety of plants and wildlife. The park itself is known for its exceptional biodiversity, making the journey as important as the waterfall at the end of the trail.
